Vilnius Airport is located 6 km south of Vilnius' city centre in the suburb of Dilgynė. It takes approximately 16 minutes to make the drive along the main Švitrigailos g. and V. Kudirkos g. route. Alternative routes include taking Pylimo g. for the Old Town area. The airport is located conveniently close to the European route E28, a highway that connects with Lithuania's A1 motorway for travel across Lithuania.
As the main and only airport of Lithuania's capital, Vilnius Airport is the country's most important air hub. It provides domestic connections across the country and international links throughout Europe and the wider world. Its busiest international routes include Antalya, Warsaw, London, Riga, Oslo, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Bergamo, Helsinki, Eindhoven, Dublin, Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam and Vienna. Over 5 million passengers use the airport each year.
Vilnius Airport serves Vilnius County, the greater region surrounding Lithuania's capital. As a result, the airport isn't just a terminal for Vilnius but also provides road links to Nemencine, Medininkai, Lentvaris, Trakai, Elektrenai and Sirvintos. Car hires in Vilnius Airport offer convenient access to Vilnius' spellbinding 14th-century Old Town, as well as connections to regional parks like Pavilnių and Verkiai. The latter is home to the historic Verkiai Palace, once the property of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
